Welcome to theta xi

These will be the words you will hear if you are chosen to become a brother in one of the oldest and most respected fraternities in the country.
You're Born... You Live... You Die...
If You're Lucky you were a Theta Xi

What is a Fraternity?

A fraternity is an association of men joined together by common goals, ideals, and aspirations. Through friendship and guidance Theta Xi seeks to assist its members to succeed in college and prepares then for post-college life.

How do I benefit from fraternity membership?

Our chapter, with its stimulating atmosphere was created by carefully chosen men, coupled with college's tremendous possibilities for an individuals personal development, offers its members both tangible and intangible benefits.

On the tangible side, we encourage good scholarship, development of leadership skills through holding chapter offices or membership in campus organizations, development of athletic skills through our athletic teams, development of social attributes through parties, dances and other social affairs. Another tangible benefit is lifelong friendships within and outside the fraternity that offer excellent networking contacts.

On the intangible side, membership increases social poise, helps in adjusting to college life, teaches a practical course in democracy, and furnishes skills to cope with everyday life. Most important, we challenge our members to seek and develop their talents to the fullest extent everyday.

A Brief history of Theta Xi at UNO

Theta Xi Fraternity has been an integral part of the UNO community since the founding of Delta Gamma Chi on October 14, 1959 and the founding of Delta Sigma Xi on March 16, 1960. These two local fraternities were to later merge and formed the basis for the Beta Xi Chapter of Theta Xi Fraternity which was chartered at Louisiana State University in New Orleans (now The University of New Orleans) on January 11, 1963.

As our fraternity has developed over time we have had the establishment of Theta Xi members in very influential positions throughout the country. Out of all the chapters in the nation, our chapter holds the best Alumni relations. These positive relations, coupled with the skills learned within the chapter, can lead to a promising future once college is completed.

Will my grades be compromised?

Theta Xi takes special interest in academic achievement. In 1959, recognizing the importance of academic achievement to membership a major change in the Ritual was effected. The fraternity created an elected Scholarship Officer charged with directing the chapter's scholastic progress.

Here at the Beta Xi Chapter good grades have been a vital part of our chapter operations. The chapter has been consistently above the University's all men's average since its establishment in 1963.

How much does it Cost to Belong to Theta Xi?

Surveys show that fraternity Membership is a college student’s greatest bargain. Theta Xi has the lowest dues on campus. Our initial affiliation fee is $25.00. Once you become a member, dues are $20.00 per month and are regulated by the chapter, so you as a member would vote to change or not change them. The initiation fee is $290.00 payable prior to initiation either in payments or in whole.

Should I Join Theta Xi?

Only you can decide this. If you can meet the financial obligations, get along with the brothers, and like the programs offered, then you should seriously consider joining Theta Xi. All we ask is that you believe in our purpose and that you are willing to work to be a good member.
